Meet Clyde Cristman

Clyde is a founding member of the Board of the Friends of King William Animal Shelter, serving as Vice President and Chair of the Fundraising Committee from 2023 - 2025. He began his current two-year term as President in July 2025.

 

He is retired after a 38-year career with the Commonwealth of Virginia, including 8 years as Director of the Department of Conservation and Recreation, 7 years with the Senate Finance Committee and 5 years with the House Appropriations Committee staffs in the Virginia General Assembly, as well as 2.5 years as Deputy Secretary of Public Safety for the Governor’s Office, overseeing the State Police, National Guard, Emergency Management, and other public safety agencies.

 

Clyde lives in Manquin, VA with his wife, Sandi, and their two rescue dogs, Cider and Dasher. He enjoys spending time with his two children, their spouses, and eight grandchildren. A lifelong animal lover, Clyde has always had at least one rescue dog and is deeply committed to helping the Regional Animal Shelter save as many animals as possible.
